New term, new beginnings for Nozipho Xulu

Global Teachers Institute would like to announce the appointment of Nozipho Xulu as its new Managing Director, effective April 2, 2019.

Nozipho has vast experience in the education sector having worked as a teacher, principal and Chief Director within the Gauteng Department of Basic Education. She was also the General Manager of the Motsepe Foundation. Nozipho takes over the GTI reigns as Nigel Richard relocates back to the USA after more than 8 years with the LEAP Science and Maths School and Global Teachers Institute family.

Nigel’s journey with the organization started in 2008 at LEAP Science and Maths school, in his role as Student Teacher.  Immediately, he started experimenting with alternative ways of training and developing new teachers which led to John Gilmour and him founding the Global Teachers Institute. He assumed the Managing Director role in 2013.

During his tenure at Global Teachers Institute, Nigel has developed a strong team of professionals eager to collaborate and make a difference in the education space. He has led four successful AXIS summits and has expanded the GTI Future Leaders Program to government schools which is proving a great success.  He continues to grow and ground teacher development within the international context.

Nozipho joins GTI at an exciting time as an experienced professional with proven capabilities and a strong understanding of the teacher development work. She takes upon the challenge to further strengthen the growing institute and bring its vision to being – developing quality teacher and facilitating learning that creates a just, equitable and inclusive world.

We wish Nigel every bit of success in his new growth journey and welcome Nozipho to the organization. To Nigel, we will continue with your passion to be agents of change with our disruptive approach in education.
