The Global Teachers Institute (GTI) is excited to be hosting its annual Axis Education Summit after the long break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic from Wednesday 13 to Thursday 14 July. We are looking forward to hosting our pre-service and in-service teachers, leaders in education, and all-important stakeholders at our Hybrid Axis Education Summit!
Tickets are R750 for attendance in-person at the HeronBridge Retreat Centre in Johannesburg, or R 250 for online attendance via Zoom. We also are offering students currently at University or College an online attendance at a special price of R 100.

PROGRAMME
The key question that will be addressed during the Summit is: How do we revive, refresh and regenerate the education system to adequately adjust to the learning demands of the post-pandemic 21st century era? This theme is a call for participants to debate, examine and create solutions to reinvigorate learning in the South African schooling system. The call to revive, refresh and regenerate education is also an invitation to develop short, medium and long term solutions to the challenges brought about by COVID-19 and other shocks that have caused damage to the schooling system in the country.

Click on the product below to download it. In the light of the COVID -19 pandemic, we were, unfortunately, unable to host the annual GTI Axis Summit for 2020 and 2021, which has been the highlight of the year for our pre-service and in-service teachers for the past 6 years.
We decided to focus our efforts into hosting a GTI Future Leaders Imbizo instead, with the Future Leaders Imbizo our aim was to provide opportunities for our student teachers, across all regions to collaborate and build relationships.
GTI Future Leaders Imbizo 2020
The theme for the online Imbizo was “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”, which was also the theme for World Teachers’ day. Future Leaders were provided with the opportunity to collaborate across the regions before the event, they submit a creative piece that spoke to the theme.

GTI Future Leaders Imbizo 2021
On Friday, 26 November 2021, we hosted the 2021 GTI Future Leaders Imbizo, which focused on the support teachers need to enable them to confront complex challenges in the classroom, broader school environment and within their communities at large as we emerge under the theme “Journey from Emergency to Emergence: Teachers at the Heart of Education Recovery”.
